Two students from the faculty of computer science – VKU win the prestigious type A Go Japan scholarship: A result of the pioneering and effective Japanese–Vietnamese bilingual training model
The Go Japan 2025 scholarship program, organized by FPT Japan Holdings, has awarded two students from the University of Information and Communication Technology – VKU, the University of Danang, with Type A scholarships – the highest full-ride category – out of a total of five scholarships allocated to the Central Region. Notably, both exclusive Type A scholarships for this region were awarded to VKU students: Truong Gia Huy (Class 22JIT) and Tran Thi Thu Dung (Class 21JIT).

The Type A scholarship is valued at 2,850 USD per recipient, covering training, living expenses, and airfare for a practical experience program in Tokyo from July 30 to August 29, 2025. This program aims to enhance students’ professional skills, Japanese language proficiency, and work capabilities in a Japanese corporate environment for IT majors.

Tran Thi Thu Dung is also one of two outstanding students previously honored by NecScat Japan with the NecScat Awards. She received a scholarship worth 80 million VND and had the opportunity to visit Japan in 2024. This achievement demonstrates her exceptional capabilities and strong international integration spirit as a VKU student.
Both students are currently enrolled in the bilingual Japanese – Vietnamese Software Engineering program, a successful and exemplary collaboration model between VKU and Nix Education. This program is specifically designed to meet the growing demand for high-quality IT human resources capable of working in international environments, particularly in Japan.
From the second year onward, students in this program receive Japanese language training aligned with the JLPT standards, aiming for N3–N2 proficiency before graduation. Specialized subjects are taught bilingually, enabling students to master technical knowledge while confidently using Japanese in a technical context. Additionally, students frequently participate in cultural exchange events, career orientation activities, and mock interviews with Japanese companies to build a strong foundation for global integration.

Truong Gia Huy shared: “The bilingual program and dedicated guidance from VKU lecturers gave me the confidence to win the Go Japan scholarship. It’s a great opportunity for me to challenge myself, learn, and expand my future in the Japanese market.” Tran Thi Thu Dung also expressed: “The previous trip to Japan with NecScat broadened my perspective, and this scholarship marks a major step forward in my journey of pursuing knowledge. I am grateful to VKU and Nix Education for helping me grow and become more confident every day.”
The VKU–Nix Education cooperation model is regarded as a pioneering and exemplary approach in the Central–Central Highlands region, aiming to provide IT human resources who are not only technically proficient but also culturally and linguistically competent in Japanese – a large labor market facing a shortage of hundreds of thousands of IT engineers each year.
Beyond theoretical knowledge, VKU adopts a holistic training approach, partnering with businesses from the second year onward. Students are exposed to real working environments, interview opportunities, and job placements with partners such as NecScat and other reputable Japanese enterprises. This is also why VKU students are consistently rated highly for their initiative, soft skills, and adaptability.
The success of the two students in securing the Go Japan scholarship is not only a personal achievement but also a clear testament to the quality and effectiveness of VKU’s international training strategy. The university continues to affirm its position as a pioneering educational institution in training high-quality IT human resources capable of working globally. With a strong foundation and support from strategic partners, VKU remains a cradle for nurturing and empowering generations of resilient, innovative, and globally integrated students – especially in advanced technology markets like Japan.
