The First Meeting of At Ty lunar New Year 2025 at VKU: New Spirit – New Success
Within the joyful and exciting atmosphere in the very beginning of At Ty lunar New Year 2025, on the morning of February 4, 2025, Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), Danang University organized a meeting to gather key staff and honor new PhDs. This is a meaningful traditional event at the beginning of every new year, regarded as a new year’s greeting for the entire VKU’s “common home”, a chance for participants to meet and share their latest achievements and look forward to a new promising journey.
Overview of the meeting
Attendants were Assoc. Prof. PhD. Huynh Cong Phap, Secretary of the Communist Party Committee, Rector of the university; Assoc. Prof. PhD. Nguyen Thanh Binh – Deputy Secretary of the Communist Party Committee, Chair of School Council; Dr. Tran The Son, Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho, Vice Rectors; comrades in the Party Committee; Heads/Deputies of affiliated units; Leaders of the Trade Union, Youth Union, and New PhDs.

At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. PhD. Huynh Cong Phap – Secretary of the Communist Party Committee, Rector of the University gave a speech, sending new year wishes to all leaders, managers, and their families. The wishes of Prosperity referred to the fact that all things would go as they wish, and they would excellently complete assigned tasks, and be more proactive and creative to further develop VKU. He also stated that this was a very precious opportunity for the key staff to get together in an exciting atmosphere at the commencement of the year to send each other feelings, exchange good wishes, and happily forget the unsatisfactory things of the lunar old year of Giap Thin 2024 to look forward to a new year of At Ty 2025 full of enthusiasm with positive energy, together maintaining solidarity and precious companionship to establish a happy and prosperous university.
The first meeting of the lunar year was also an important conference to evaluate and review all the university’s commitments in 2024. Over the past year, it has continued to obtain numerous outstanding achievements in all aspects, including maintained internal solidarity, consensus and enthusiasm of all staff and employees of the university; excellent admission results, reaching 100% of the set targets with the entrance score being among the highest in the country and the highest in the Central Highlands. Further achievements were training quality being affirmed, more and more students getting high prizes in national and international competitions, the high employment rate of students (over 90%), increasingly prestigious global training programs (bilingual English-Vietnamese, Japanese-Vietnamese, Korean-Vietnamese); newly-launched training majors/fields, enhanced training position of VKU; thoughtful and professional student management and service; International cooperation activities having achieved many impressive results, especially promoting cooperation with KMUTNB, initiating, establishing and developing the ACIR Community, developing Top-up training programs (2+2, 3+1 with prestigious international schools); scientific research activities having flourished, the CITA International Conference strongly developing; improved infrastructure and facilities, increasingly spacious teaching-learning and working environments; better material and spiritual life and income of civil servants (to be among the best in the Da Nang University group); VKU’s position and reputation being increasingly affirmed domestically and internationally; many major events and activities being successfully organized such as the MT-TN Informatics Olympiad, Microchips, etc. In particular, VKU has successfully implemented a series of activities to celebrate the 5th anniversary of its establishment in a grand, effective and exciting manner.
Looking forward to the year of At Ty 2025, in the predicted context of the socio-economic situation of the country continuing to face many challenges and difficulties; competition in higher education in the face of social demands requiring increasingly improved training quality, and with a strong desire to transform VKU into an ideal, dream and happy university in the Central region, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector of the university recommended and hoped that all the units and staff, civil servants and lecturers of the university would pay attention to the five major orientations of the university in the period of 2024-2030. These included: Promoting university autonomy – a foundation for the sustainable development; Improving capacity and quality of education; Radically Digital transformation; Strengthening internal and external cooperation; Establishing a happy university – a place for learners’ comprehensive development. In particular, the 2024-2025 school year needs to focus on implementing three major orientations namely Promotion of digital transformation, application of information technology and artificial intelligence; Enhancement of cooperation and internationalization; and Establishment of a happy school with 12 working areas and 59 key tasks as follows:
- Fostering strong internal solidarity, consolidating the spirit and culture of VKU with core values being Humanity – Dedication – Liberation, while promoting responsibility, professionalism, quality, prestige, and discipline. Each officer and civil servant have to develop a positive, professional, dedicated personal brand, and lead a responsible life with self-respect and pride.
- Implementing the personnel plan for the 2025-2030 term, adjusting the organizational structure to be more suitable and efficient, rearranging personnel and establishing new faculties of Digital Communications and Finance – Digital Accounting. Improving the management system, digitizing processes, applying the KPI model, piloting it in some units. Tightening labor discipline, reviewing salaries and bonuses based on working performance, implementing the human resource development project, attracting doctoral lecturers, organizing professional training practical internships; implementing leadership and new technology training courses.
- Organizing the evaluation of enrollment activities, adjusting appropriate admission quotas, developing financial policies and scholarships. Promoting enrollment communications through Informatics Olympiad activities, Campus Tour, exhibitions and IT experience programs. Building a room to display student achievements and improving the university website and communication channels. Applying AI and IT to automate the enrollment process and building Chatbots and predict trends. Launching new training majors/fields such as Fintech, Automotive Software, electronics, control, accounting, and finance. Improving teaching quality with the CITL center, studio, online learning, Blended Learning, and applying AI in compiling lectures and managing teaching materials. Promoting international training cooperation, implementing 1+3, 2+2, 3+1 programs, granting international degrees, and expanding student and lecturer exchange programs. Launching master’s training programs in IT, Business Administration and attracting international experts to participate in teaching activities. Developing short-term training courses that meet labor needs and business cooperation.
- Fostering the application of IT in organizing exams, scheduling, managing academic reports, ensuring system security. Standardizing the testing, evaluation, inspection, and assessment procedure, forming a list of essay exam questions, and minimizing late score submission. Completing self-assessment of educational institution quality, implementing quality assessment at program level according to AUN-QA criteria and measuring output standards. Issuing and digitizing business processes to optimize the management process.
- Promoting student scientific research, establishing a mechanism for evaluating lecturers and researchers. Developing the eSTI Institute with interdisciplinary research programs, conducting investigations and studies at the Ministry, State, and enterprise levels, as well as research cooperation with Korean and Russian partners. Holding international conferences such as CITA, AWRIS, SeMI, or CSoNeT and signing research cooperation agreements with many units.
- Implementing ODA projects on schedule, expanding cooperation with ASEAN Consortium for Innovation and Research (ACIR), Russian, Finnish, and French partners. Fostering international exchange of lecturers and students, especially with KMUTNB (Thailand), Korea, and Japan. Implementing new international projects such as CFK-Hanwha Life, Erasmus+, AI Challenge, PISI, ETC, or DDC competitions. Developing training programs and research projects in cooperation with businesses, expanding the business network and organizing Job-Fair programs.
- Aiming for the comprehensive development of students from the ethics, expertise, physical, mental and cultural perspectives. Improving student management, academic counseling, and student psychology, organizing training courses and focusing on soft skills education. Accelerating foreign language clubs, startups, and psychological counseling activities, innovating student information portal and alumni network. Strengthening scholarship search, raising community funds, developing job portals for students.
- Strictly managing finances, ensuring good implementation of the university’s activities. Establishing an income payment mechanism based on work performance and increasing staff’s income. Maximizing revenue sources from science and technology activities, business cooperation, and facilities. Developing financial support policies and scholarships for students as well as applying IT in financial management and deploying the tuition payment portal.
- Completing campus planning, adding a smart lecture hall project developing green energy sources, building international conferences, incubators, Co-working space, Smart Labs, Smart Rooms, and other Campus infrastructure. Continuing to improve the university campus, developing landscape, a dormitory night market, a green park, and a sports area. Innovating the Guest House B3 into a tourist zone which serves experts.
- Maintaining inspection for work performances and discipline implementation, handling of violations related to labor discipline. Inspecting teaching and learning activities, developing legal plans for the 2024-2025 school year. Conducting legal propaganda and education for staff and students, reviewing the system of documents and participating in giving feedback on drafted documents issued by higher levels.
- Supplementing new specialized textbooks and resources such as Semiconductor Microchips and Fintech, promoting document digitization, operating the digital library system from the Korean ODA project. Developing enrollment communication strategies for the 2024-2025 school year, applying AI in communication, publishing digital papers to enhance the school brand.
- Continuing to balance the welfare fund to support staff and employees, taking care of their spiritual life through cultural, sports, and community activities. Providing funds to maintain staff clubs, organize tours, support sports tournaments, and unite the whole university.

Also at the meeting, VKU’s leaders solemnly honored and presented flowers to congratulate four new PhDs, bringing the total number of highly qualified staff and lecturers to 07 Associate Professors and 53 PhDs (reaching a rate of 43.2% of lecturers with PhD degrees or higher). The majority of the new PhDs were sent to study and successfully defended their dissertations at prestigious universities within the country and abroad such as: Korea (01), Taiwan (01), Poland (01), Vietnam (01). This is a really valuable labor resource, contributing to affirming the prestige and reputation of VKU.
In the joyful and exciting atmosphere of the first working day of the lunar new year, with faith and hope for a bright future, the staff and employees of Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology continue to uphold the spirit of solidarity, proactiveness, positivity, creativity, and strive to excellently achieve the aims of 2025, contributing to making VKU a world-class university.
