The Central Working Delegation surveys and evaluates the current status of digital technology and artificial intelligence training at VKU
On the afternoon of September 8, 2025, Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology, the University of Danang (VKU) had the honor of welcoming a delegation from the Central Commission for Propaganda and Mass Mobilization and the Ministry of Education and Training. The purpose of the visit was to survey and evaluate the current status of training in digital technology, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation at the university.

Overview of the Working Session
The delegation was led by Mr. Le Huy Nam – Director of the Education Department, Head of Delegation; Mr. Le Huy Hoang – Deputy Director of the Education Department; Mr. Le Thanh Hung – Representative from Local Affairs Department 2 (Central Commission for Propaganda and Mass Mobilization); and Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy – Deputy Director of the Higher Education Department (Ministry of Education and Training). From VKU, attendees included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh – Chairman of the University Council, along with the university’s vice rectors and leaders of various departments, faculties, and centers.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Le Huy Nam emphasized the purpose of the visit: to listen and take note of the actual conditions, advantages, challenges, and proposals from VKU in the process of training human resources in digital technology, AI, and digital transformation. The insights gathered will serve as an important foundation for the delegation to synthesize and advise the Central Government and relevant ministries on the formulation of suitable policies, contributing to the realization of Resolution 71 by the Politburo on the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation. He praised VKU’s potential as a young, dynamic university with great promise to become a regional hub for research and innovation. He encouraged VKU to boldly propose strategic solutions and practical needs to receive timely attention and policy support from the Central Government.

He highlighted the opportunity for VKU to showcase its achievements and receive valuable guidance to further enhance training quality in the digital era.

In the report presented by Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho – Vice Rector, it was noted that over the past five years, VKU has made significant strides in training closely aligned with digital technology and AI. With nearly 8,000 students and 19 majors and minors, VKU offers cutting-edge majors that meet current market demands such as Artificial Intelligence, Semiconductor Chip Design, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Fintech, Digital Logistics, Automotive Software Engineering, Game Technology, and IT Project Management. The academic programs are competency-based, with many modules integrating AI, big data, and advanced practical skills. In addition to standard programs, VKU also offers high-quality and international programs with increased English instruction, preparing students for global integration.
In terms of digital transformation, VKU has implemented a comprehensive “Digital University” model, structured around key pillars: digital infrastructure, digital governance, digital services, and digital communities. The university has launched the Digital Science and Technology Institute (eSTI), and established modern labs including the Semiconductor Lab, Smart Technology Lab, VKU Fintech Hub, and the VKU Innovation Center — a full innovation ecosystem with incubators, co-working spaces, and maker spaces. VKU is also implementing a $7.7 million ODA project funded by the Korean Government, with the goal of becoming a pioneering digital university in the Central region.
In its academic and research activities, VKU has initiated and led numerous major events. These include the annual CITA International Scientific Conference, the AI Challenge and Central-Highlands Informatics Olympiad competitions, and notably, the successful hosting of the VIMC 2025 International Mathematics Competition, which attracted nearly 1,000 contestants from 31 countries. VKU’s international cooperation network currently consists of over 200 partners, including reputable businesses, universities, and research institutes both locally and internationally. This network opens up many opportunities for student exchanges, research collaborations, and links training with real-world corporate practices. Alongside its achievements, VKU also openly addressed the difficulties it faces. These include challenges in attracting high-quality human resources, the need for high-tech research infrastructure, and the demand for policy mechanisms to help the university develop more rapidly and sustainably.

After the discussion, both sides engaged in an in-depth exchange on the current situation, challenges, and future direction for developing digital human resources. They also focused on strengthening the university-institute-business cooperation model, promoting research and innovative startup projects, and discussing policy mechanisms to help universities like VKU secure more resources for investment in infrastructure, human resources, and international partnerships.

In his concluding remarks, Comrade Le Huy Nam, head of the delegation, highly praised VKU’s position and role, noting its impressive development over the past five years. He highlighted the university’s internationally-standardized teaching staff, advanced training programs, and comprehensive digital transformation efforts. He emphasized his hope that VKU will continue to build a long-term strategy to become a national hub for research, startups, and innovation in the Central-Highlands region, while also actively participating in the “Digital Literacy and Knowledge for All” movement launched by the government.

At the end of the working session, the delegation toured the VKU campus, visiting the Digital Science Technology Institute (eSTI), various laboratories, the innovation space, and other key facilities. The delegation acknowledged the university’s efforts and achievements in training human resources for digital technology, artificial intelligence, and national digital transformation.
