The 5th Informatics Olympiad in the Central – Central Highlands 2024 with large scale, high quality, prestige; reaching national and international standards on competitions
On the morning of March 30, 2024, the Closing Ceremony for the Final Round of the 5th Informatics Olympiad in the Central – Central Highlands 2024 was chaired and co – held by Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), The University of Da Nang and Vietnam Information Technology Association, ICPC Vietnam, Department of Education and Training of Da Nang City and Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Da Nang together with the companion of Hanwha Life Company (Korea) and CFK Fund – ChildFund Korea (Korea). This is an attractive, useful playground that promotes the passion for learning, updating, practicing, and creating programming solutions, contributing to the provision of high-quality human resources in the future for the Central – Central Highlands in particular and the country in general.
Overview of the Closing Ceremony for the Final Round of the 5th Informatics Olympiad in the Central – Central Highlands 2024
The Opening Ceremony welcomed:

Speaking at the Closing Ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Head of the Organizing Committee was delighted and moved by the strong development of the competition, the response and participation of many candidates from primary, secondary, high school, and high schools for the gifted in the country with impressive numbers maintained and developed over the years such as: in 2020, there were 217 students/19 schools/19 provinces and cities; In 2021, there were 827 students/50 schools/36 provinces and cities; In 2022, there were 1,087 students/201 schools/40 provinces and cities; In 2023, there were 2,019 students/281 schools/63 provinces and cities and in 2024, there were 2,390 students/354 schools/47 provinces and cities. These numbers have once again affirmed the reputation, quality, and reliability of the Informatics Olympiad in the Central – Central Highlands. This year, the Informatics Olympiad in the Central – Central Highlands has been accompanied by Hanwha Life Vietnam, the Korean Children’s Support Fund (ChildFund Korea) bringing thoughtful, safe, and high-quality preparation for meals, accommodation, and uniforms.

Representing the Vietnam Informatics Association and ICPC Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Long highly appreciated the roles and responsibilities of the units. This year, the competition witnessed the thoughtful preparation and the responsibility from Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU). The competition attracts many excellent candidates who have participated in many national and international competitions affirming the prestige and quality of the Informatics Olympiad in the Central – Central Highlands reaching the standards on national and international competitions.

He shared: The time when we live changes very quickly with technological advances. Therefore, the effort and passion you show in this competition will be an important key to lead Vietnam in the era with many changes. The 5th Informatics Olympiad in the Central – Central Highlands has passed 2 rounds, the preliminary round (on March 2, 2024) and the semi-finals (on March 9, 2024) took place in the form of an online competition with more than 2,390 students from 354 high schools for the gifted, high schools, and secondary schools from 47 provinces/cities nationwide participating in 03 competition groups: Super Cup group (For students in the team participating in the National Informatics Competition); Informatics specialized group (for Informatic specialized students at high schools for the gifted) and Non – Informatics specialized group (for the remaining groups). Based on the results of the exams, the Organizing Committee and the Judge have selected 656 best candidates to participate in the final round, including 158 candidates from the Super Cup Group, 175 candidates from the Informatics specialized group and 322 candidates in the non-informatics specialized group.
All questions in the 3 groups ensure quality, reliability, security and are issued by the composing committee consisting of regroup experts nominated by the Vietnam Informatics Association and ICPC Vietnam. Mr. Nguyen Long, Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Information Technology Association, Director of ICPC Vietnam is in charge of questions composition. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Phan Thuan (Hanoi University of Science and Technology) and Dr. Do Duc Dong (Hanoi National University) are in charge of specialty issues; The composing board includes Mr. Pham Van Hanh, International Olympic Gold Medal of Informatics in 2015, Golden Globe Science and Technology Award in 2017, Mr. Nguyen Duc Thuan, a member of the Vietnamese team participating in the Asian Informatics Olympiad in 2021.
3 excellent students won the Championship cup of 3 groups
To summarize the 5th Informatics Olympiad in the Central – Central Highlands, the Organizing Committee awarded gold, silver, bronze medals, and Consolation prizes to the following groups:
- Super Cup group: 18 Gold medals; 31 Silver medals, 10 Bronze medals and 28 Consolation prizes.
- Informatics specialized group: 24 Gold medals, 39 Silver medals, 56 Bronze medals and 41 Consolation prizes.
- Non – Informatics specialized group: 46 Gold medals, 72 Silver medals; 98 Bronze Medals and 69 Consolation Prizes.
In addition, students and teams with high achievements receive high valuable rewards as follows:
+ Championship prize: students with the highest position in each group (03 prizes for 3 groups): Cup and bonus of 5,000,000 VND/01 prize;
+ Runner-Up Award: students with the second highest position in each Group (03 prizes for 3 Groups): Cup and bonus of 3,000,000 VND/01 prize;
+ Third Place-Winner Award: Students with the third highest position in each Group (03 prizes for 3 Groups): Cup and bonus of 2,000,000 VND/01 prize;
+ Talent Prizes (45 Talent Prizes for 3 groups at 1,000,000 VND/prize): For the 15 students with the next highest scores.
In addition, there are 03 prizes for the groups with the largest number of contestants participating in the final round and with the highest percentage of contestants winning prizes, specifically: First prize for the entire group (prize value is 4 million VND) goes to the High School for the Gifted of Natural Sciences, Hanoi National University; Second prize for the entire group (prize value is 3 million VND) goes to Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Da Nang; The third prize for the entire group (prize value is 2 million VND each) goes to Hanoi – Amsterdam High School for the Gifted.
The total value of the prizes awarded to students and teams with high achievements is 100.000.000 VND (One hundred million VND).
Besides, students who win first, second, third, and consolation prizes are given priority for direct admission to the university as well as other benefits according to the direct admission regulations of Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), The University of Da Nang (https://vku.udn.vn and http://tuyensinh.vku.udn.vn/) and other universities with their own admission regulation.
On the other hand, to create the most favorable conditions for students from provinces/cities outside Da Nang city to attend the final round, the Organizing Committee has created favorable conditions and provided maximum support for accommodation and meals. Free drinks and uniforms for all candidates, parents, and teachers throughout the competition.
The 5th Informatics Olympiad in the Central – Central Highlands 2024 marks a step of great development with continuous efforts to innovate, create, improve quality and reputation, achieving stature and standards on national and international competitions.
