Permanent Deputy Chairman of Da Nang People’s Committee Ho Ky Minh visited and congratulated VKU on Vietnamese Teachers’ Day, November 20
On the morning of November 13, 2023, the delegation of Da Nang People’s Committee led by Mr. Ho Ky Minh – Member of the Standing Board of Da Nang Municipal Party Committee, Permanent Deputy Chairman, along with Mr. Phan Van Son – Deputy Chief of Da Nang People’s Committee Office and Mr. Tran Nguyen Minh Thanh – Deputy Director of Education and Training Department visited and congratulated Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Danang on the occasion of the 41st anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers’ Day (November 20, 1982 – November 20, 2023).

On the side of VKU, there were Associate Professor, PhD. Huynh Cong Phap – Secretary of the VKU Party Committee, VKU’s Rector, Associate Professor, PhD. Nguyen Thanh Binh – Deputy Secretary of the VKU Party Committee, Chairman of the VKU Council, together with leaders of VKU’s departments, faculties and centers.
Mr. Ho Ky Minh – Member of the Standing Board of Da Nang Municipal Party Committee, Permanent Deputy Chairman of Da Nang People’s Committee led the delegation to visit VKU.
At the reception, Associate Professor, PhD. Huynh Cong Phap expressed his joy when Da Nang People’s Committee leaders visited and congratulated VKU on the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers’ Day, November 20. In 2023, VKU continued to have a successful enrollment season and was ranked among the top universities with high admission scores in the country and the highest admission scores in the Central – Central Highlands. 2023 admission scores dramatically increased compared to previous years for all 14 majors/minors, ranging from 24-26 points, reaching 100% of the target with more than 1,500 students, bringing the student population of the school up to nearly 6,000 students. Besides, VKU has achieved many impressive results in training, scientific research and other activities such as: There were a lot of students winning high prizes in national and international competitions; The rate of students ranked “Very Good” and “Excellent” in learning accounted for 17.90% and the equivalent figure for “Good” was 44.2%; The rate of students with well-paid jobs in the right field or profession at many large and reputable enterprises nationwide and worldwide after 6 months of graduating from the school was over 90%. In addition, there are many second and third year students recruited by large businesses while studying at school. Financial support, scholarships and tuition fee policies are preferential and humane. The current student population is nearly 6,000 and aims to reach 8,000 – 9,000 undergraduate and graduate students by 2025. The present teaching staff consists of over 250 people, including nearly 60 doctors and associate professors, accounting for nearly 41%. This is a significantly higher figure than the national average rate (30%). Moreover, VKU has focused on connecting and building a network of over 200 strategic partners including domestic and international organizations and businesses who have participated in the process of training, recruiting jobs, sponsoring, and implementing training cooperation programs, namely bilingual global programs in English, Japanese, Korean with NiX Education, Fsoft, Evvo Labs,…. Furthermore, VKU has carried out plenty of academic activities and playgrounds, international academic-cultural exchange programs, practical projects, internships, business cooperation, enhancement of teaching specialized subjects in English and especially 100% of students’ graduation thesis written/presented in English. In particular, VKU is the first university in the Central region that has just launched a plan of enrollment and training in Semiconductor Circuit Design with an expected enrollment capacity of about 500 students during the 2024 – 2027 period and transferring 180 students from closely related majors into Semiconductor Circuit Design. It is expected that from 2028 onwards, there will be university graduates in the field of Semiconductor Circuit Design. Apart from training in Semiconductor Circuit Design, VKU will also provide “Accelerator” courses and workshops in coordination with businesses and plan to enroll 60-100 students every year.

Being a university specialized in information technology, communications and digital economy, VKU hoped that Da Nang People’s Committee Leaders would continue to show consideration and have many policies to support scholarships and dormitory accommodation for students to attract them to study and work in the city; build up investment promotion forums with Korean IT businesses; coordinate and activate career orientation and counseling programs, experience sampling in information technology and digital transformation for high school students at VKU.
On behalf of Da Nang People’s Committee Leaders, Permanent Deputy Chairman Ho Ky Minh presented flowers and congratulated the school’s leaders, staff and lecturers on the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers’ Day, November 20. Through the exchange and sharing, Permanent Deputy Chairman highly appreciated VKU’s role and position in training information technology human resources for the city, and at the same time acknowledged VKU’s propositions and suggested that VKU should strengthen connections with Korean ICT enterprises, especially enterprises operating in the field of semiconductor chips to boost human resource training in order to meet the socio-economic development needs of the city with strategic orientations in the coming time.

Closing the working session, Associate Professor, PhD. Huynh Cong Phap expressed his hope to continue to receive close consideration and direction from the leaders of Da Nang People’s Committee and VKU would proceed to push their potential and strengths in training, research and simultaneously develop their school according to the orientation associated with that of Da Nang City.
