On the morning of December 14, 2024, the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), University of Danang, held the opening ceremony of the Staff and Employee Sports Festival with the theme “VKU: Pride and Aspiration to Reach Further.” This event is part of a series of activities celebrating the 30th anniversary of the University of Danang (1994–2024) and particularly commemorating VKU’s 5th founding anniversary (January 3, 2020 – January 3, 2025): marking 22 years of establishment and development.

The opening ceremony was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh – Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the University Council; Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho – Vice Rector; and Mr. Tran Dinh Son, M.A. – Chairman of the University Trade Union, along with members of the University Trade Union Executive Committee, representatives of unit leaders within the university, and leaders from member units of the University of Danang. The Sports Festival also attracted participation from seven athlete teams with nearly 400 athletes from affiliated and subordinate units of the University of Danang, alongside a large number of enthusiastic supporters.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Tran Dinh Son, M.Sc., emphasized that the 2024 Sports Festival “VKU: Pride and Aspiration to Reach Further” is not only a healthy sporting platform but also holds profound significance. It embodies the spirit of solidarity, the aspiration to excel, and the collective strength of VKU’s staff and employees. This Sports Festival serves as an opportunity to reflect on past achievements, take pride in the milestones reached, and ignite the strong aspiration to advance further as a united VKU collective. It is more than just a sporting event; it symbolizes connection, dynamism, and creativity, contributing to enhancing VKU’s stature within the University of Danang’s community.

The sports festival will take place over two days (December 14-15, 2024) with nearly 400 athletes competing in 3 sports and 8 events, including Volleyball (men’s and women’s), Table Tennis (men’s doubles, women’s doubles, mixed doubles), and Badminton (men’s doubles, women’s doubles, mixed doubles). Due to weather conditions, the Table Tennis and Badminton events will be held at the VKU Student Center, while Volleyball matches will take place at the Hoa Xuan Sports Hall.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, matches were held at the Hoa Xuan Sports Hall and the VKU Student Center. The athletes’ spirit of fair play, enthusiasm, and high determination brought exciting and dramatic competitions, leaving a deep impression on attendees and supporters.

The Staff and Employee Sports Festival entitled “VKU: Pride and Aspiration to Reach Further” will conclude with a closing ceremony and award presentation on the afternoon of December 15, 2024, at the university’s Student Center. This event will undoubtedly become a beautiful memory, inspiring pride and the aspiration to reach further in every member of VKU and the University of Danang as a whole.
