Getting ready for international integration with VKU: Open doors to UK education
Continuing activities within the framework of the project “UK TNE Development” sponsored by the British Council and implemented by universities in Vietnam, on the morning of March 1, 2025, Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), Danang University chaired and organized the event “The journey to becoming global citizens” for high school students in Danang City to introduce and provide information on joint training programs between VKU and partner universities in the United Kingdom (UK).
Overview of the event
Attending the event, on the side of UK universities, there were Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai – Deputy Director of New Pathway Education – Representative of Huddersfield and Hertfordshire Universities, and Ms. Tran Ha Anh – Representative of Northampton University; on the side of VKU, there were Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho – Vice Rector of VKU, along with representatives of the school’s units and more than 250 students from VKU, Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted and Phan Chau Trinh High School in Da Nang city.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho – Vice Rector of the university happily said that in the era of globalization and digital transformation, equipping knowledge, skills and international integration thinking is a prerequisite for success. One of the necessary factors to become a global citizen is the ability to use foreign languages, knowledge of technology application, soft skills to work in a multicultural, multinational and multimodal environment. VKU is proud to be a pioneer in training to meet the above conditions. In recent years, VKU has strengthened international educational cooperation, providing students with high-quality training programs taught in English and opportunities to access advanced education. As a university specializing in information technology and digital economy, VKU students have access to and develop knowledge of technology application right from the very first days. During their studies, students participate in many international exchange and internship programs. With a diverse training program, VKU graduates have the necessary capabilities and conditions to quickly access the global working environment.

In particular, VKU is currently implementing 3+1, 2+2 joint training programs with leading universities in the UK such as the Universities of Huddersfield, Hertfordshire and Northampton, in which students study 3 years at VKU and the final year in the UK and receive an international degree, expanding opportunities to study and work globally. Hopefully, today’s event will help VKU students and high school students have a clearer view of the study path, development opportunities and access the international environment. VKU is committed to continuing to expand cooperation, creating the best conditions for students to be ready to become global citizens.
Within the framework of the program, representatives from VKU and partner universities in the UK provided detailed information about joint training programs, especially emphasizing the advantages of the 3+1 and 2+2 learning models. These programs not only help Vietnamese students access international standard education but also create conditions for them to develop global thinking, increasing career opportunities at multinational corporations and enterprises after graduation.
In addition, students and pupils attending the event were also introduced to the strong fields of study in training cooperation between VKU and partner universities, including Information Technology, Data Science, Digital Economy and many other advanced technology fields. Speakers from the Universities of Northampton, Huddersfield and Hertfordshire shared highlights of the curricula, study conditions in the UK, as well as employment and research opportunities after graduation. In particular, information about the admission process, entry requirements and scholarship programs helped students have a clearer view of the study path in the UK and financial support opportunities.

In the exchange session, speakers and guests directly answered questions from high school students and VKU students about issues such as admission methods, study costs, living conditions in the UK, as well as how to make the most of the joint program to develop their careers. Questions related to practical learning experiences, differences in teaching methods between Vietnam and the UK, as well as internship opportunities at international businesses were also answered in detail by representatives from VKU and partner universities. The event “The journey to becoming global citizens” ended with a lot of useful information and powerful inspiration for young people, helping them orient their future, ready to seize opportunities to develop themselves in an international educational and working environment.
