Center for Learning Resource and Communication

The International Mathematics Competition (IMC) is an annual academic playground for primary and secondary school students (divided into the EMIC – Upper Primary, and IWYMIC – Lower Secondary categories). With the motto “Challenging Mathematics, Connecting Cultures,” since 2003, IMC has been hosted in various countries such as the Philippines, China, Malaysia, South Korea, Indonesia, India, Singapore, Bulgaria, Thailand, and more. Each year, the competition gathers thousands of students from around the world, serving as a launching pad to ignite mathematical passion, discover talent, and foster a spirit of cooperation and creativity among the global youth.

In 2025, IMC will be held in Vietnam for the first time under the name VIMC 2025 (Vietnam International Mathematics Competition), from August 14–19, 2025, in Da Nang City, with VKU as the main hosting venue. This event marks a significant step forward in Vietnam’s journey toward international educational integration and helps promote the potential of Vietnamese youth in mathematics to the global community.

The structure of VIMC 2025 includes two main components: Individual Round, and Team Round. The exam content focuses on areas such as arithmetic, algebra, geometry, combinatorics, logic, and strategic thinking. The tests will be written in English (the official language of the competition), with optional local language translations to ensure contestants fully understand the requirements. The problem-setting, grading, and supervision will be conducted according to international standards, involving a jury and invigilators from various countries.

Outstanding contestants will be awarded Trophies, Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals, Souvenir Medals, and International Certificates. Additionally, there will be special prizes such as: Individual Round Team Award, Team Round Team Award, Special Cultural Exchange Award, Puzzle Challenge Game Award. Notably, IMC does not apply a fixed medal quota but bases awards on actual performance, ensuring fairness for students from different educational backgrounds.

VIMC 2025 is not only an academic competition but also a platform for cultural exchange and connection among international student communities. It inspires a passion for mathematics and helps develop logical thinking and teamwork skills for the next generation of global citizens.
