Financial Technology Workshop: Fintech and Artificial Intelligence – The Key to Improving Financial Capacity in the Digital Age

On the afternoon of March 20, 2025, at Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), Danang University, the Financial Technology Workshop as part of the Future Plus Project aiming at developing ICT and Financial Talents in Vietnam took place with the support of Hanwha Life and ChildFund Korea (CFK), Korea.

Overview of the workshop

Attending the workshop were Mr. Hong Jeong Pyo – Senior Executive Vice President of the Group, Mr. Hwang Jun Hwan – Chairman of the Board of Directors and also CEO of Hanwha Life Vietnam, Mr. Cho Sung Jin – Head of IT Business Department, Hanwha Financial Technology, Ms. Hoang Hoai Giang – Senior financial investment expert in Vietnam, on behalf of Hanwha Life; Ms. Shin Joung Won, Director of Corporate Social Impact Initiative, a representative from CFK; Prof. Yoo Shing Jung, Director of the Institute of Digital Economics and Finance from Sogang University; Dr. Tran The Son – Vice Rector of the university, along with leaders of departments, faculties and nearly 300 lecturers and students, from VKU.

In his opening speech, Dr. Tran The Son – Vice Rector of the university happily welcomed and sincerely thanked the presence of the representatives from Hanwha Life, CFK and speakers from Korea and Vietnam who were attending and sharing knowledge in the field of Financial Technology (Fintech).

This workshop is an important part of the Future Plus Project – Developing ICT and financial talents in Vietnam, a practical initiative to help students approach the global financial technology development trend, and to open up opportunities for them to study and practically apply their knowledge in the field of FinTech. Recognizing the importance of financial technology in the digital age, VKU has pioneered the introduction of Financial Technology (Fintech) into its training program, helping students not only grasp professional knowledge but also access practical training models that closely follow business needs. In particular, with the support from Hanwha Life and CFK, in 2024, VKU launched and made use of VKU Fintech Hub – a modern center fully equipped with advanced technology, serving research, teaching, and practice in the field of digital finance. This is an important step forward, providing VKU’s students with the opportunity to have experiential knowledge, develop financial analysis skills, manage digital cash flow and access the latest technology platforms. This workshop is also a way to better motivate students’ learning, innovation and willingness to become the ones leading the future of the digital economy.

Mr. Hwang Jun Hwan – Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Hanwha Life Vietnam is speaking

Representing Hanwha Life, Mr. Hwang Jun Hwan – Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Hanwha Life Vietnam shared that Hanwha Life, with its extensive experience in the field of FinTech, especially in Artificial Intelligence (AI), has pioneered in implementing social responsibilities in the financial sector in the AI ​​era to contribute to global sustainable development. In particular, it has strategically invested in nurturing and developing young talents in Vietnam in general and at VKU in particular through the “Future Plus Vietnam” project.  Today’s Hanwha Finance Day financial education program is a pivotal part of Hanwha Life’s “Future Plus” project which aims at promoting the roadmap to improve financial and digital capacity for excellent students at VKU. He also voiced his hope that the students will be well aware that preparing knowledge and skills related to fintech for the future is extremely important and urgent.

Speakers are talking about the financial sector

At the conference, Prof. Yoo Shing Jung – Director of the Institute of Digital Economics and Finance, Sogang University, Korea talked about the topic of “Digital Finance and Korean Fintech & Best Practices”, emphasized the importance of digital finance and the strong development of the FinTech ecosystem in Korea, and introduced practical application models to help optimize financial management, improve business performance and promote innovation. Ms. Hoang Hoai Giang – Vietnamese Financial Expert with the presentation on “FinTech – Empower people in Managing Personal Finance”, affirmed that FinTech is not only technology, but also a tool to help students and individuals manage their finances efficiently as well as access more transparent and intelligent financial services. These sharings have given students a better understanding about the core role of FinTech in the digital age and opened up opportunities for them to apply financial technology to their studies, start-ups and career development, contributing to creating human resources of finance and technology who are proactive, creative, and ready to be globally integrated.

The Financial Technology Workshop under the Future Plus Project – Developing ICT and Finance Talents in Vietnam was a great success, providing VKU’s students with in-depth knowledge and practical implications on FinTech, digital finance, and the application of technology in the financial sector. The cooperation of Hanwha Life and CFK, along with the sharing from leading experts, has opened up opportunities for students to access global financial technology trends, improve their skills, and be ready to integrate into the digital labor market.

VKU is committed to continuing to expand cooperation with strategic partners, developing innovative training programs, equipping students with not only knowledge but also the opportunity to have more experiential knowledge, and thereby improving their competitiveness. The workshop has not only affirmed VKU’s pioneering role in the field of FinTech and digital finance, but also laid a foundation for future generations of students to firmly step on the journey to conquer the financial technology industry in the digital era.
