In the afternoon of July 8, 2023, Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Da Nang held a Leadership and Management Conference to summarize the 2022-2023 academic year and 2023-2024 academic year orientation.

The conference has an important meaning, in order to evaluate and summarize the implementation of the 2022-2023 academic year’ tasks, seriously review and cause of limitations and shortcomings; thereby setting out appropriate operating directions for the new 2023-2024 academic year. The conference is also an opportunity for University’s leaders and managers to focus on building and developing the University’s education and training.

Chairing the conference, Assoc. Prof. Ph.D. Huynh Cong Phap – Secretary of the Party Committee, University Rector on behalf of the University leaders congratulated all staff for their solidarity, enthusiasm and aspiration in the University’s training during the past year with tireless dedication, contributing to achieve certain University successes.

In 2022-2023, the University has received the attention, leadership and direction from UDN leaders, the Party Committee, the University Council and Board; The efforts and solidarity of all staffs have organized to implement and excellent complete of many tasks and plans with outstanding results in 11 working parts such as enrollment that achieved more than 1,500 candidates with top high benchmark in the country in 14 majors, students academic results from good level or higher with high rate; strengthen student management, two-way information exchange between the University and students families; expanding cooperation with many domestic and foreign business partners, connecting activities between enterprises and the University in training coordination, improve foreign capacity language and skills for students; recruiting quality and professional lecturers; the inspection work is maintained in order and enhances discipline in training activities; communication and promotion of the University is widely spread in the social community; renovating green – clean – beauty environment landscape, applying strong digital transformation in all management and administration activities and other tasks.

Overview of the conference

In 2023-2024, with new opportunities and challenges, VKU set out 7 major orientations: Building VKU culture imbued with the spirit of educational philosophy “Humanity – Service – Liberalization” with the core value system “Prestige – Quality – Professionalism”; Modernization and sustainable development of smart – green university with a digital university environment, green – clean – beauty space, spacious and modern infrastructure with international standard conference areas, Student Street, Digital tourism practice area combined with VKU guest house, Startup Incubator,…; Developing a large and high-quality team; Raising the status and image of VKU in the social community; Improving the prestige and quality of enrollment, training and technology scientific research; Accelerating the internationalization of the University, focusing on connecting Southeast Asia; Perfecting the digital ecosystem of training, scientific research, innovation and entrepreneurship.

Leaders of the units give comments to discuss the direction of the school year 2023-2024

From large orientations and other ongoing items, the Rector directed to effective implement of 43 tasks and key solutions for 10 areas of University management and operation, striving to successfully complete the 2023-2024 academic year tasks, specifically focusing on areas of work such as:

–  Training: Developing strategic training programs in microchips and digital communication; opening research-oriented masters training programs, 2+2, 3+1 international joint training programs with leading universities in Korea.

–  Testing and quality assurance: Standardizing foreign language output with international standards TOEIC, IELTS; accrediting 03 training programs and implementing out-of-school assessment.

–  Student Affairs: Building community funds, scholarships for students; establishing VKU alumni community and promoting student clubs with the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship Scientific research and technology: develop activities, research programs and technology transfer with major research topics and projects.

–  International Cooperation – Enterprise: Building a research community in Southeast Asia (ACIR), exchanging lecturers, students and research cooperation with leading universities in Southeast Asia; successfully deploying research labs, Japanese and Korean training programs in cooperation with enterprises.

–  Personnel – Legal inspection: Establishing and developing the Faculty of Digital Communication, strengthening and fostering the management apparatus; building and developing the team with training programs, fostering new recruitment personnel; promulgating regulations and rules; strengthening discipline, working habits, periodic inspection and internal inspection.

–  Facilities: Proposed overall plan of the University, lecture hall project; Smart and Green Energy development, international conference area, incubator, Co-working space, Connectivity Hub, Maker Space, Studio, Smart Labs, Smart Rooms; Relocation of practice labs, administrative offices, faculties to Zone K; form of student night street, construction of parks, mini scene connecting dormitory spaces, youth roads; planning parking lots, sports fields in Dormitory.

– Communication: Building IT experience programs for high school students; spaces of displaying contest products (onsite and online); implementing the AI Challenge contest.

–  Digital Transformation: Implementing management system, digital services, new website system.

–  In addition, the Trade Union and the Youth Union need to strengthen the Team Building program, music and arts, sports with the spirit of “Love, proud and VKU aspiration” to strengthen solidarity, promote the synergy among officials, staff and University students.

In that spirit, the Rector called on the Universitys leaders and managers to continue to promote the spirit of solidarity, positivity and initiative in work, successfully complete the tasks of the 2023-2024 academic year and maintain the University’s stability and development in the future.
