On the morning of August 26, 2023, the 5th Best Web Design Final Round (BWD 2023) took place at the Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology .This is an academic playground, held annually to provide students with a practical approach and apply knowledge they have learned to design creative and convenient websites.

Attending the BWD 2023 final round, on the side of businesses and experts, there were: Mr. Ngo Thanh Tung – Deputy General Director, Softech Da Nang Joint Stock Company; Mrs. Nguyen Thi Anh Duong – Head of Human Resources and Training Department, Enclave Company; Mr. Van Duc Hung – Senior Manager, Rikkeisoft Joint Stock Company, Da Nang Branch; Mr. Tran Nam Viet-Senior Design Manager, KMS Technology Company. On the VKU side, there were: Dr. Tran The Son – Vice Rector of the Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology with leaders of University’s Departments, Faculties, Centers and more than 200 students interested in technology attended and encouraged 12 participating teams in the contest.

The BWD 2023 contest not only provides students with the opportunity to interact with experts from large companies and corporations in the field of Information Technology and through that, introduce students’ unique and valuable products to community and businesses.

Dr. Tran The Son – VKU Vice Rector delivered the opening speech

Speaking about the contest, Dr. Tran The Son – University Vice Rector said: “The Best Web Design Contest is an annual contest organized by VKU, invested in scale, methodical, and innovated over the years, reflected in the professionalism and high competition of the teams. Students of the teams not only showed their knowledge and skills in website design but also demonstrated their ability to present products in English. Along with the efforts, VKU attaches great importance to renovating training programs, advanced teaching and learning methods, University students from the first year have started to make technological products, can work in enterprises from the second year and are equipped with in-depth knowledge associated with creative projects, practical scientific research from the third year to train and provide high-quality engineer human resources for the global market.

The 5th Best Web Design Competition (BWD 2023) was held with 2 tournaments, namely the BWD tournament (for first-year students only) and the SUPER BWD tournament (for above 2nd-year students and who have won the prize in previous seasons), which took place from March 27, 2023 to August 26, 2023. In which: the BWD tournament consists of 3 rounds, attracting nearly 328 teams with more than 1,055 students to participate and the SUPER BWD tournament has 02 teams who have won the prize in previous competitions.

Through 2 preliminary rounds, the 5th Best Web Design Competition (BWD 2023) has found 10 excellent teams (BWD tournament) and 02 excellent teams (SUPER BWD tournament) to enter the final round. The teams continue to apply skills and knowledge to create website products with a unique website interface, the best characteristics and features, with high applicability such as: environmental protection, teaching instructions, health care, tourism, technology, real estate,… to ensure the aesthetics, harmonious colors, use of technical technologies such as HTML5, CSS, CSS3, JavaScpirt, Bootstrap, Jquery,… on popular browsers such as Internet Explorer 8.0, Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari.

In addition, the 5th Best Web Design Contest (BWD 2022) also took place 2 sub-laps, namely the product communication contest (from July 8, 2023 to July 16, 2023) with more than 20,000 interactions on Facebook social networks and the Hackathon (July 12, 2023) with the theme “Programming ChatGPT for digital transformation in education”.

With the meaning of an intellectual playground, high attractiveness, this years contest has received the companion spirit of sponsors including Enclave Software Technology Company, Logigear Vietnam Co., Ltd., Rikkeisoft Joint Stock Company.

The BWD 2023 final round was attractive by ideas presentation, introducing teams websites products in English, along with the Q&A between the jury of experts from technology enterprises and teams. After each competition, the jury gave comments and evaluated the products strengths and limitations in detail. The jury’s questions are not only a test of knowledge but also help the teams understand more about the products purpose and applicability.

Mr. Ngo Thanh Tung – Deputy General Director of Softech Da Nang Joint Stock Company commented: I am very impressed with VKU students, although they are only first and second year students, they have approached and applied quite well technically as well as creative ideas to build good and feasible websites. From a business perspective, with meaningful academic competitions associated with reality, we still and will always continue to accompany and cooperate with the university to support students with more techniques and technologies associated with the reality of society.

The organizing committee awarded the Tofus team the first prize with a website product on the topic of Environmental Protection Save The World

BWD 2023 final round results, the Organizing Committee selected and awarded 01 First Prize (the 2022 BWD tournament) to Team Tofus with the website product on the topic of environmental protection “Save The World” and 01 Second Prize (the SUPER BWD tournament) to Team Dream with CodeDocAI product (no first prize team), in addition, the Organizing Committee also awarded 01 Second Prize, 02 Third Prizes and 05 Consolation Prizes to the teams in the BWD 2023 Groups.
