On April 12, 2023, the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Da Nang had a meeting and worked with representatives of Pum, the Netherlands (Programma Uitzending Managers) in the process of building and supporting start-up activities in the University.

Attending the meeting, on VKU side, there were Mrs. Le Ha Nhu Thao – Deputy Head of Testing and Quality Assurance Department, in charge of Startup Programs, Standing Committee of the PISI contest (Program Incubation of Start-up and Innovation Ideas for Students), the Faculty of Digital Economy and E-Commerce’ lectures, students participating in the PISI contest and members of VKUs Startup Club attended.

On the side of the PUM representative, there was Mr. Sven Decker – PUM representative, with the members participating at the meeting.

In order to promote the spirit and entrepreneurial thinking among students, the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology has been implementing the Program Incubation of Start-up and Innovation Ideas (Pisi) very successfully for the past 5 years. Pisi is a support and funding program to implement creative ideas and start-ups for students and young people in the Central – Central Highlands region. The program aims to promote creative spirit, dynamic thinking and entrepreneurial ideas as well as help students realize their business dreams and develop innovative products.

As a useful playground, stimulating the creative thinking of students; in addition to the advantages and support from the University, for the organizers of the PISI program, there is always concern and desire to build the program to reach out further, expand and create more and more valuable benefits in society through bridges between businesses, donors, and benefactors.

PUM, founded in 1978 by the Dutch Association of Employers and Industry, is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing free advice, experts and support. PUM consists of more than 3,200 Dutch experts, 1,700 volunteers at 150 representative offices in more than 30 countries, with the goal of supporting SMEs in developing countries: Asia, Africa, Middle East, Latin America. PUM has provided thousands of experts to support Vietnamese businesses, transferring knowledge, experience, technology, vocational training and establishing relationships with Dutch and EU partners.

 Mr. Sven – PUM highly appreciated and was very impressed with the process of implementing and developing VKUs activities in general, creative activities and startups in particular. With the support of experienced experts in technology, product improvement of the PUM, we will shorten the time of product research and development. This is considered a great opportunity to enhance the exchange of cooperation with PUM, beside of great expectations in the process of developing and promoting entrepreneurship in students, with the goal of building and completing the project of PUM for VKU in the coming time, will bring great opportunities for students, potential to become real startups, helping them improve their own capacity, expand their learning and working path in the future.

With a roadmap of building and long-term development with PUM, the University will promote the development of start-up and innovation training programs at VKU, helping students participate in learning and experience more valuable skills and experiences. Hopefully, through this connection which will create positive effects, great achievements in the future ahead.
