On the morning of August 26, 2023, Department of Science, Technology and Cooperation, Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Da Nang had a meeting with Yonsei University volunteer student delegation, Korea during a trip to Vietnam.

Founded in 1885 and located in Seoul center, Yonsei University is the oldest private university in Korea. Over more than a century of establishment and development, Yonsei University has so far affirmed its leading position in Korea educational chart, in the top 3 universities of modern facilities, strong and international level’s training programs. Currently, the university has 22 member and 18 associate colleges, the number of students studying is 39,000 students. This is considered the largest number of students attending a university in Korea. At Yonsei, the University always promotes volunteer activities and experiential learning abroad to improve and cultivate internationalization capacity and training expertise for students.

Speaking at the meeting, Prof. Han Sang Il recalled the unforgettable impression of the Yonsei Volunteer Group in 2019 at VKU and expressed his joy at being able to return after the Covid-19 pandemic. Prof. Han also thanked VKU leaders for facilitating the two universities students to meet, exchange and hoped to maintain a useful and interesting program, contributing to strengthening exchange activities between Yonsei and VKU students.

Welcoming Yonsei University delegation, VKU representatives shared and introduced an overview of the University’s development and history based on the friendly diplomatic relationship between Vietnam and Korea. Over the years, with the attention of the Government of Vietnam, international organizations, VKU has received active support from the Government of Korea through KOICA for ODA projects to develop key projects, striving to make VKU become an educational institution, scientific research, high quality and prestige technology transfer of the country in the field of information technology, communication and digital economy; become a center to connect and support start-ups, cultural-academic exchanges and other friendly exchange activities between Vietnam and Korea.

Academic and cultural exchange activities

At the meeting, Yonsei University delegation had a special performance, exciting games exchange with VKU Youth Union, organized a visit to learn about training models, academic activities as well as better understand the philosophy of education and people at VKU. The meeting is also an opportunity for both students to learn about the culture of the two countries, improve foreign language competence, communication skills and have meaningful memories at the University which is symbolizing the good friendship between Vietnam and Korea.
