Assoc. Prof. PhD. Huynh Cong Phap, Rector of the University of Danang, Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (UD-VKU), had a meeting with the representative of ChildFund Korea in Vietnam, Mr. Daniel Dongseok Park

 At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap expressed his pleasure in welcoming and working with the representative of ChildFund Korea in Vietnam. VKU is a public university under the University of Danang, established in 2020. To date, VKU has nearly 6,000 students studying in fields such as information technology, communication, and digital economics, with admission scores ranging from 23 to 26 points for 14 majors. Additionally, VKU is the only university in the Central Highlands region with significant support and investment from the Vietnamese and Korean governments. VKU has received substantial support through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), including comprehensive investments in facilities, infrastructure, and equipment. This support, combined with advanced training programs provided by Korea and high-quality lecturers trained in advanced countries, positions VKU as a leading institution in the region.

 In recent years, despite facing certain challenges, VKU has shown considerable attention to community and social programs. This includes maintaining a reduced tuition fee ranging from 5.5 million VND to 6.8 million VND per semester (for 3 years). The university also provides support for dormitory fees, with the reduction rate of approximately 200,000 VND per student per month, and implements various policies to support entrance scholarships and encouragement scholarships among students.

VKU regularly organizes the Central Highlands – Central Vietnam Informatics Olympiad, an event that has connected thousands of students from all 63 provinces and cities across the country. The aim is to identify and nurture talents in information technology for the nation as a whole and specifically for the Central Highlands – Central Vietnam region in particular. The university also hosts the Start-up Idea competition, providing students opportunities to develop and implement innovative ideas. Additionally, there is a scholarship program that accompanies high school students in the Central Vietnam region.

Hereby, VKU wishes to expand its cooperation opportunities with both domestic and international investment funds, especially ChildFund Korea, to seek more support for students in the Central Highlands region as well as the whole country with the educational philosophy of “Humanity – Service – Liberalization” of VKU”.

The representative of ChildFund Korea in Vietnam, Mr. Daniel Dongseok Park, acknowledged and highly appreciated the programs and activities that VKU has been and is implementing. He mentioned that ChildFund Korea has been active in Vietnam with projects supporting education, healthcare, and building policy systems. The foundation has a particular focus on supporting young labor, with project models already implemented in Bac Kan, Thua Thien Hue, and the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs.

Through these discussions, representatives from the both sides found the consistencies between the activities of the university and those of ChildFund Korea. It is hoped that through this connection, the two parties will collaborate to create positive effects with practical initiatives for the community and society in the future.
