Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Ba Hoan visited and worked at VKU during the inspection trip for the Korean language proficiency test under the EPS program
On the morning of April 10, 2024, the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), a member of Da Nang University, welcomed the working delegation from the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs during their inspection trip to supervise the organization of the Korean language test for laborers applying to work in South Korea under the EPS program.

Attending the working session from the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs were Comrade Nguyen Ba Hoan – Deputy Minister, leaders of units including the Center for Overseas Labor, Ministry Inspectorate, Management Department of Overseas Labor, Financial Planning Department, Office of the Party Committee, and the Information Technology Center under the Ministry. Representing the University were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – University Rector, Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho – Vice Rector, and leaders of units within the university.

In his speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector of the University, joyfully welcomed the working delegation from the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, led by Deputy Minister Nguyen Ba Hoan. VKU was established in 2020 as a public university and a member of Da Nang University. VKU always clearly defines its mission and responsibilities in training, providing high-quality human resources, conducting scientific research, and transferring knowledge and technology, with the vision of becoming one of the leading universities in the country and aspiring to international recognition in education and research fields. It operates based on an advanced management model, aiming to be a modern and smart institution. With an annual enrollment target of 1,500 students and an average admission score of 24 points for 14 majors in fields such as information technology, communication, and digital economy, VKU has nearly 6,000 students currently enrolled. The university aims to reach between 8,000 and 9,000 postgraduate and undergraduate students by 2025. The current team of faculty members at VKU consists of over 250 individuals, including nearly 70 PhDs and Associate Professors, accounting for approximately 41% of the total. Additionally, VKU has emphasized the establishment of a network with over 200 strategic partners, including domestic and international organizations and enterprises, participating in training, recruitment, and sponsorship, as well as implementing various collaborative training programs such as bilingual Global Programs in English, Japanese, Korean, etc. VKU also engages in numerous activities and platforms for international academic and cultural exchange, practical projects, internships, and enterprise collaboration, enhancing foreign language implementation in teaching, particularly the fact that 100% of students’ theses are written/presented in English.
Noticeably, VKU is the first university in Central Vietnam to announce enrollment and training for Semiconductor Integrated Circuit Design Engineers. It plans to enroll approximately 500 new students from 2024 to 2027, with around 180 students from related majors transitioning to Semiconductor Integrated Circuit Design.
During the working session with the Deputy Minister, VKU hopes to receive guidance and attention in coordinating the organization of Korean language proficiency exams at VKU to ensure integrity, safety, and security in the area. Furthermore, VKU seeks to collaborate in organizing training courses focusing on skills development after the Korean language exam and implementing collaborative programs to train human resources in digital transformation using the practical lab facilities at VKU.

On behalf of the working delegation, Deputy Minister Nguyen Ba Hoan joyfully acknowledges and highly appreciates VKU’s efforts over the years, which have led to remarkable developments in student enrollment and the quality of training programs. The cooperation between the Center for Overseas Labor and VKU in organizing Korean language proficiency exams for labor export in recent years has been highly praised by South Korea for its solemnity, safety, and quality assurance. It is hoped that VKU will continue to be a reliable venue for organizing exams, as well as Korean language training, and a significant destination in fostering the friendship between Vietnam and South Korea in the Central region and nationwide.

At the end of the visit and work session at VKU, the working delegation took a trip around the university campus as part of the survey, ranging from research institutes and practical lab rooms to classrooms, canteen, and dormitories. This survey aimed to coordinate cooperation in organizing training programs for labor export candidates under the EPS program in the upcoming period.
