On the afternoon of March 13, 2025, in Tam Ky city, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – Director of Danang University (UD) led the UD’s delegation including  UD’s Deputy Directors: Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thanh Bac; Rectors/Vice Rectors of member universities; Heads/Deputy Heads of training units under and directly under UD to work with Director of the Department of Education and Training (DET) of Quang Nam province Thai Viet Tuong and Deputy Directors of DET: Nguyen Cong Thanh, Nguyen Hoang Nam, Phung Van Huy.

Attending the working session were comrade Pham Hong Quang – Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee, Representatives of the Office and relevant departments of UD, Heads/Deputy Heads of Divisions of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Nam province and Principals of high schools in the province.

In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – Director of UD introduced the general and outstanding features of UD as a national key regional university providing multi-disciplinary and multi-field training programs with 06 member universities, 01 affiliated school and other affiliated training units. UD has nearly 2,600 staff and lecturers, including more than 120 Professors/Associate Professors, more than 800 Doctors of Science/PhDs (the proportion of lecturers with a Doctorate degree or higher is nearly 50%).

UD’s Director shared that after more than 30 years of construction and development and 50 years of its member universities’ history, UD has provided hundreds of thousands of engineers, managers, economists, teachers, and businessmen to meet the human resource (HR) needs of the Central – Central Highlands region and the whole country. Former students of UD currently hold very key positions in agencies, enterprises, and schools, participating in most of the key national projects and works. UD is very proud of its generations of alumni who have always made positive contributions to society.

With its tradition, position, and role in the mission of training high-quality human resources (CLC), UD has received attention and priority investment from the Government to be worthy of being one of the top 3 training and scientific research (NCKH) centers in the country with international prestige and position.

Director of UD Nguyen Ngoc Vu said that the tasks and policies to develop UD into a National University were included not only in Resolution No. 26-NQ/TW of the Politburo on the development of the North Central and Central Coast region but also in Conclusion No. 79-KL/TW on continuing to implement Resolution No. 43-NQ/TW of the Politburo on the construction and development of Da Nang city until 2030 with a vision to 2045.

The tasks continue to be specified in the Planning of the network of university and pedagogical education institutions for the period 2021-2030 with a vision to 2050 (Decision No. 452/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister). This is not only the legal basis but also an extremely important and meaningful premise for UD to continue to focus on implementing the Development Strategy to 2030, vision to 2045; creating breakthroughs in development, realizing the great aspirational goal of becoming a National University according to the policies of the Party and the Government.

To implement the major policy and tasks for sustainable development, UD always considers training quality as the red thread and focuses on orientations to continuously improve the quality of training and scientific research: 1- Strengthening connections with high schools, fostering foreign language and STEM foundations (because this is the input of universities); 2- Strengthening relationships and cooperation with businesses (because this is both the output of graduates and a companion in innovation and application, transferring knowledge and new technology); 3- Expanding international cooperation (to integrate and increase development resources); 4- Connecting with central agencies, ministries, branches and localities (together implementing national tasks and strategies, regional and national development); 5- Innovating university governance associated with digital transformation.

Director of UD Nguyen Ngoc Vu expressed his great honor and gratitude for this opportunity to lead his delegation to visit and work and sincerely thanked the leaders of the Department of Education and Training and Quang Nam province as well as principals of high schools for taking the time to work together, opening a period of cooperation and connection in the joint mission of training high-quality human resources.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Thai Viet Tuong – Director of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Nam province shared his joy and emphasized the significance of the meeting when all leaders of the University of Danang and its member universities visited and worked with the leaders of the Department and all principals of high schools for the first time.

Director of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Nam province shared that both sides have a joint mission of taking care of the cultivating people career. Therefore, this is a very meaningful opportunity to understand each other better. The member universities of UD understand more about Quang Nam as well as the Department of Education and Training and at the same time, principals of high schools understand more about UD, thereby coordinating to strengthen counseling and orientation for their students. This is a joint responsibility that requires mutual sharing, connection, and support to do well the task of training high-quality human resources that society requires as well as the country and the locality place on the shoulders of universities, high schools and the entire education sector.

According to Representatives of the Department of Education and Training, among 10,000 Quang Nam students graduating from high schools and enrolling in universities every year, there are 4,000 of them admitted to the University of Danang. In addition, the Department of Education and Training, member universities of UD and high schools conducted activities and cooperated in training and fostering managers and teachers, organizing scientific, technological and academic competitions for students…

Director of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Nam province shared development opportunities in the new context of the province, especially the planning of the Eastern development corridor for tourism and industrial services; The North (Tam Ky, Chu Lai, Nui Thanh) is the center of the automobile industry and supporting industries with seaport and airport clusters for industrial development; the Western corridor (with 9 mountainous districts) is planned for the development of agriculture, forestry and medicinal herbs (ginseng, cinnamon, morinda officinalis,…), thereby promoting the processing industry. Especially, the border between Quang Nam province and Da Nang is an area for a large-scale project of Danang University Urban Area, which has been planned, restarted and invested by the Government.

With the advantages of geographical proximity, cultural convenience, and similar living conditions, students from Quang Nam in particular and provinces and cities in the Central region in general have many advantages to choose UD’s member universities and training units according to their strengths and aspirations. This will help reduce costs for students in the Central region, including Quang Nam, compared to studying in large far-away cities.

Career counseling and orientation for more than 18,000 high school graduates in Quang Nam each year is the responsibility of every teacher at the schools. Therefore, today’s working session is truly meaningful and useful. The Department’s leaders highly appreciated and completely agreed with UD’s viewpoint of cooperation in training high-quality human resources.

At the working session, Dr. Tran Dinh Khoi Quoc – Head of the Department of Training and Education Quality Assurance, the University of Danang introduced and clarified more about Danang University as well as its member training institutions. With a training scale of about more than 65,000 full-time students and more than 1,000 international students, UD has the advantage of being given high autonomy in training, opening majors, enrolling students, and offering multi-levels education, from undergraduate to postgraduate (Master’s, PhD) with 18 fields, 136 undergraduate majors, 49 Master’s majors and 29 PhD majors, meeting the needs of society and learners, especially key trendy majors of the 4.0 Revolution such as Artificial Intelligence, Semiconductor Microchips, Information Technology (IT), Financial Technology…

The Representatives of the UD’s Training and Education Quality Assurance Department said that UD has paid great attention to internal quality assurance, pioneered external accreditation and evaluation, and is now in the top 3 universities with the most accredited training programs (CTĐT), meeting domestic and international quality standards with more than 100 training programs, including 53 international-standards training programs (AUN-QA, CTI, ASIIN); 5 out of 6 member universities meet national quality standards (01 university achieved HCERES international quality accreditation (cycle 2): University of Science and Technology – UD). In 2025, UD is ranked in the Top 421-430 leading universities in Asia according to QS Asia.

In 2025, UD is expected to open and enroll 21 new majors/specializations, including some majors that meet urgent needs for national development and attract learners with high employment opportunities such as Metro Railway Construction, Data Analysis, International Finance,… Among them, Semiconductor Microchip (03 member universities specialized in the field of engineering – technology of UD have opened the major, enrolled students and conducted training activities) and Artificial Intelligence majors are supported by Da Nang city with preferential tuition fees policies.

The Rectors of member universities of UD also shared, introduced and discussed with leaders of the Department of Education and Training and principals of high schools about their strengths and proposed cooperation orientations in the coming time, including:

University of Science and Technology – UD promotes the implementation of training in key majors, supporting localities and high schools to develop STEM education;

University of Economics – UD focuses on training many new majors to meet the supply and demand of human resources for the Free Trade Zone and the Regional Financial Center in Da Nang city;

University of Science and Education – UD promotes its strengths in training and improving the quality of teachers which is considered a decisive factor to contribute to the successful implementation of the new General Education Program;

University of Foreign Languages ​​- UD enhances the quality of foreign language teaching and learning, contributing to the implementation of Conclusion No. 79-KL/TW, gradually making English the second language in schools;

University of Technology and Education – UD promotes its tradition and experience in application-oriented training and is ready to cooperate and welcome high school teachers and students to experience and develop STEM education;

Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology – UD promotes training and research on digital technology and digital economy, organizes the Informatics Olympiad in the Central – Central Highlands region, programming according to ICPC international standards…

The leaders of UD and the Rectors of UD’s member universities discussed, shared and suggested to leaders of high schools about the needs and orientations for training high-quality human resources, creating a connection from high school to university, developing foreign languages, IT and STEM skills for students. The member universities of UD are ready to support and cooperate with the Department of Education and Training of Quang Nam province in training and fostering managers and teachers, for example:

University of Economics – UD has been supporting training on procedures for purchasing, repairing and managing finances in the public sector for the Board of Management and Chief Accountants of high schools;

University of Science and Technology – UD and University of Technology and Education – UD support training on teaching and learning, inspiring STEM for teachers and students;

Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology – UD applies artificial intelligence and IT and promotes digital transformation, digital volunteering, etc.

Mr. Pham Hong Quang – Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee spoke sincerely from the perspectives of a former student of University of Science and Technology – UD, a parent with a child preparing to enter university, and a former leader of the Department of Information and Communications of Quang Nam province in evaluating and using human resources.

Sharing with UD and the Department of Education and Training of Quang Nam province in the mission of cultivating people, the Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee hoped that the parties would strengthen their connection, have orientations and solutions to support early career counseling and guidance for high school students to equip them with the necessary skills to have appropriate and effective thinking and learning methods at university level.

After listening to the open and frank opinions and exchanges in the spirit of cooperation and construction, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – Director of UD, representing the co-chair of the meeting, gave a concluding speech.

UD’s Director highly appreciated and sincerely thanked the good emotion and attention of the provincial leaders, the Department of Education and Training of Quang Nam province and principals of high schools for UD and its member universities as well as training units under and directly under UD. The full attendance of leaders from the Department of Education and Training and high schools of Quang Nam province as well as leaders of UD and its member units is a common success; providing extremely useful information for all parties to have orientations and training strategies to meet the needs of society and learners.

Director of UD shared his excitement when each delegate attending the meeting found it a very meaningful opportunity to understand each other better to coordinate and start a period of cooperation for sustainable development.

The leaders of UD shared that UD had invited a Nobel Prize-winning Professor in Physics to give an academic talk to lecturers, university students and high school students of Da Nang. It would have been more meaningful and effective if there had been the participation, coordination and attendance of high school teachers and students from neighboring localities such as Quang Nam province. This is not only to share strengths and enrollment needs but also to connect many important tasks of the two sides in the mission of training high-quality human resources.

At the meeting, Director of UD and Director of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Nam province exchanged souvenirs and flowers to mark the cooperative relationship in the new period. The Rectors of the member universities of the University of Danang presented scholarships to representatives of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Nam province with a total scholarship amount of 135 million VND along with nearly 3 billion VND from converted scholarships to help high school students in difficult circumstances to be exempted from tuition fees and cover training costs; In addition, many other forms of practical support were also conducted for  teachers and students of high schools in the area.
