Conference of Summarizing the Project on Enhancing students’ employability in the age of digital transformation

From January 8 to January 13, 2024, within the framework of the project “Enhancing students’ employability in the age of digital transformation” sponsored by the British Council, Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), Danang University in collaboration with Phenikaa University (PU), Ho Chi Minh University of Industry and University of East Anglia (UEA-UK) organized the summarizing conference in UK.

Attending the conference, there were Assoc. Prof. PhD. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector of VKU; Prof. Mark Searcey – Vice Rector, School of Science, UEA; Prof. Gerard Parr – Former Dean, Department of Computer Science, UEA; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Phu Khanh – Vice Rector of PU; Assoc. Prof. PhD. Huynh Trung Hieu – Vice Rector of IUH, and project members.

Through the conference program, member schools shared and reported on outstanding results of the project as follows:

  • Tripartite seminar activities “Government – University – Enterprise”, training programs to improve lecturer capacity;
  • Activities to support students in finding jobs such as the 1-year internship program at businesses which was successfully applied at UEA;
  • Apply innovative methods in training programs;
  • Enhance students’ flexibility and employability in the digital world.

Dr. Le Ha Nhu Thao – Deputy Head in Charge,  Department of Educational Testing and Quality Assurance presented a report on the results of the project from the VKU side

Within the framework of this project, the project selected one typical student from each school to participate in the project and attend the conference at the University of East Anglia, UK. Among them, student Nguyen Phu Thinh, a second year student from the global class 22GIT who majors in Information Technology at VKU, was selected to present and share the results of project implementation as well as outstanding training methods and models of VKU such as project-based teaching and learning methods, academic competitions and playgrounds associated with specific subjects, and academic – cultural exchange activities in accordance with internationalization and liberalization orientation. He confidently affirmed that studying at VKU has greatly helped students develop necessary soft skills such as teamwork, communication, critical thinking and so on, contributing to improving their opportunities to find jobs globally in the digital transformation era.

The results of this project have opened up hope for universities’ cooperative orientation in training, research and innovation in the coming time.
