The Director of Da Nang University and the delegation worked with VKU to review operational outcomes and define strategic directions for the University’s next phase of development

On the morning of February 6, 2026, the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), Da Nang University, had the honor of welcoming a delegation from Da Nang University, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – Director of Da Nang University for an official working session.

Attending the working session, representing Da Nang University were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – Director, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Manh Toan – Deputy Director, and leaders of its functional departments. Representing VKU were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh – Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Rectors Dr. Tran The Son and Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho, along with leaders of the university’s departments, faculties, and centers.

Speaking at the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector of the University, expressed his sincere gratitude for the close attention, guidance, and sustained support from the leadership of Da Nang University throughout VKU’s development process. The Rector highlighted outstanding achievements of the university over more than 6 years of development, emphasizing that VKU is steadily affirming its position as a young public university oriented toward applied research and innovation in the field of digital technology and digital economy. The university has built an increasingly stable organizational structure, strengthened internal unity, continuously improved the quality of its faculty, expanded its training and enrollment scale, and enhanced the quality of incoming students. In addition, training activities have been reformed toward greater standardization, internationalization, and stronger links with enterprises. Scientific research, international cooperation, and innovation have also recorded many positive developments. Facilities and campus infrastructure are being gradually upgraded toward a modern, green, clean, and attractive learning environment. At the same time, the university’s leadership frankly acknowledged existing difficulties and challenges, particularly the pressure to develop a highly qualified workforce, increase investment in scientific research, and upgrade as well as effectively utilize facilities in response to a steadily growing student population. They expressed their hope to continue receiving attention, support, and guidance from the University of Da Nang in the coming time.

During the meeting, members of the working group and the university’s leadership engaged in frank and responsible discussions on many key issues. The participants acknowledged the university’s strong internal unity, dynamic and creative spirit, and the outstanding achievements VKU has made in recent years. They also proposed solutions to further develop the faculty, including promoting doctoral training through state-funded programs, increasing the recruitment of young lecturers, experienced researchers, and international faculty members, and implementing a unified management dashboard mechanism.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – Director of Da Nang University, delivered the concluding remarks

In his concluding remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – Director of the University of Da Nang, acknowledged and highly appreciated VKU’s serious and thorough preparation of the report, which comprehensively reflected all aspects of the university’s performance in recent years. He commended the spirit of solidarity, unity, dedication, dynamism, and creativity demonstrated by the university’s leadership, staff, and faculty – key factors that have enabled this young public university, established through mergers and consolidations, to quickly stabilize its organization and gradually affirm its position within the higher education system.  In particular, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu highly appreciated VKU’s adherence to the major policies of the Party and the State, as well as its effective implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW and Resolution No. 71- Q/TW on the development of science, technology, and innovation. He also acknowledged the university’s proactive and responsible approach in carrying out Announcement No. 45-TB/TGV of the Central Steering Committee and the task assignment decision issued by the Director of Da Nang University regarding the implementation of Conclusion 45. These directions were identified as consistent and strategically significant orientations for VKU in its new phase of development, particularly in the context of ongoing digital transformation and the growth of the knowledge-based economy.

The Director of Da Nang University emphasized that VKU has made significant strides in linking training with industry, particularly through its Japanese-Vietnamese and Korean-Vietnamese bilingual programs. He also highlighted notable progress in scientific research and international cooperation, with annual academic forums such as CITA and DeFi gradually establishing strong reputations. In addition, VKU has advanced two-way international student exchange programs, created academic platforms for students in the region, and achieved positive results in student recruitment, training, and support. Alongside these achievements, the Director also frankly pointed out several shortcomings that need to be addressed, including limited investment in scientific research, the need to further improve the proportion of highly qualified lecturers, and the need to increase graduation rates. On that basis, he emphasized that VKU must keep pace with global development trends and clearly define its mission in training high-quality human resources associated with science, technology, and innovation. He stressed the importance of decisively and synchronously implementing the 2026 action plan, with priority given to workforce development, the promotion of scientific research – particularly student research – enhanced international cooperation, pioneering digital transformation and governance, and the effective shared use of facilities. These efforts will contribute to positioning VKU as a leading example within the University of Da Nang system and Vietnamese higher education as a whole.

Concluding the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu extended New Year greetings for 2026 to all leaders, staff, faculty, and students of VKU, expressing his confidence that, with a spirit of unity, a strong drive for innovation, and a clear development orientation, VKU will continue to grow robustly and make increasingly significant contributions to the overall development of the University of Da Nang and Vietnamese higher education.
