Promoting International Education Cooperation between VKU and the University of Huddersfield, United Kingdom

On the afternoon of January 23, 2026, Vietnam–Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), The University of Danang, held an important working session with a delegation from the University of Huddersfield, United Kingdom, to promote and expand international cooperation between the two institutions. This activity followed previous cooperation agreements, particularly in joint training programs and academic exchange, and served as a preparatory step toward the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the near future.

Overview of the working session

The University of Huddersfield delegation was represented by Prof. Rupak Kharel, Associate Dean for the School of Computing and Engineering. On the VKU side, the meeting was chaired by Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho, Vice Rector of the University, together with representatives of relevant departments and units. The session took place in a formal yet open atmosphere, with the participation of leaders and experts from both institutions.

At the meeting, Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho expressed his sincere appreciation for the cooperation and support from the University of Huddersfield over recent years. He emphasized the importance of expanding international partnerships in education, research, and academic exchange. VKU reaffirmed its strong commitment to developing training programs aligned with international standards, creating more opportunities for students and faculty to access advanced learning and research environments.

Remarks by Professor Rupak Kharel – Associate Dean for the School of Computing and Engineering, University of Huddersfield

Representing the University of Huddersfield, Prof. Rupak Kharel, Associate Dean for the School of Computing and Engineering, highly appreciated VKU’s potential in the field of information technology and expressed his desire to continue accompanying VKU in international training programs, research projects, and academic exchange activities. Through these initiatives, the cooperation is expected to expand international learning opportunities for Vietnamese students and enhance the global competitiveness of VKU students in the international labor market.

During the official discussion session, both sides reviewed the cooperation activities implemented to date and exchanged views on new opportunities for collaboration in education, scientific research, faculty and student exchange, and scholarship support. The discussion also focused on orientations for developing training programs in line with international standards in the context of global integration. Representatives of both institutions agreed that the partnership between VKU and the University of Huddersfield should continue to be strengthened in both depth and scale, in line with VKU’s internationalization strategy and the shared goal of developing high-quality human resources for the 21st century.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides agreed to move forward with the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding to formalize the agreements reached and to initiate specific cooperation programs in the coming period. The new MoU is expected to update strategic areas of collaboration, expand exchange opportunities, and enhance practical training and internship support for VKU students in international environments.
