VKU Strengthens Development in Artificial Intelligence for Multimedia and International Student Exchange in Collaboration with Yuhan University, South Korea

On the morning of November 27, 2025, Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Danang, welcomed representatives from Yuhan University, South Korea, for a meeting to discuss potential collaboration in training, student exchange, and international cultural exchange.

Overview of the meeting

Participants in the meeting from Yuhan University were Prof. Kim Tae Woo – Director of Strategic Planning, Prof. Kang Hyun Jong – Head of the Department of Animation Production and Director of the AI Imaging Center, and Prof. Lim Hyun Joo – Head of the Department of Aviation Services; from VKU were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector of the University, along with leaders of the university’s Departments, Faculties, and Centers.

During the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector of VKU warmly welcomed the delegation from Yuhan University and highlighted the university’s remarkable achievements over nearly five years of establishment and development. As a public university strategically oriented towards digital technology and digital economy in the Central – Central Highlands region and nationwide, VKU currently educates nearly 8,000 students, with an annual enrollment of 1,500 across 19 majors and minors. Admission scores have shown an increasing trend over the years, especially in Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Information Security, and Data Science, reflecting the strong appeal of VKU to candidates across the country. VKU is recognized as a pioneering university implementing bilingual programs in English-Vietnamese, Japanese-Vietnamese, and Korean-Vietnamese to meet international integration needs. Notably, 100% of VKU students develop English proficiency throughout their studies, with the requirement to complete their graduation thesis entirely in English, giving them a significant advantage and confidence to enter the international working environment. With a network of nearly 200 strategic partner enterprises and a modern learning and research ecosystem supported by a total investment of over VND 1,000 billion from the Vietnamese and South Korean governments, VKU provides a favorable environment for students to enhance their technological skills, creativity, and innovation.

Representing Yuhan University, Prof. Kim Tae Woo – Director of Strategic Planning – expressed his gratitude for VKU’s warm welcome and shared his impression of VKU’s rapid development, scale of education, and strong international integration orientation. Yuhan University, located in Bucheon City, Gyeonggi Province, near Seoul, is one of South Korea’s prestigious private universities. Founded in 1978, Yuhan has grown strongly with a practice-oriented education model, excelling in fields such as engineering and technology, industrial design, multimedia, content production, AI technology, aviation services, healthcare, and business. The university boasts modern facilities and a wide network of corporate partnerships, providing students with ample opportunities for internships and employment in the Seoul metropolitan area. Yuhan also offers strong support for international students through scholarships, Korean language assistance, and a friendly, multicultural learning environment.

During the meeting, both sides discussed key collaboration directions, including the development of artificial intelligence in multimedia and animation, joint development of short-term educational programs and summer courses, cultural exchange, and the strong promotion of semester-based student exchange programs, providing students from both universities with opportunities for international learning and internships at companies in South Korea and Vietnam. Notably, both parties agreed to move forward with drafting a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize the partnership, laying a solid foundation for long-term and effective programs.

VKU’s leadership also introduced the university’s campus and facilities.

At the end of the meeting, the Yuhan University delegation toured VKU’s campus, exploring the facilities, practice and research centers, digital content creative spaces, and technology training areas. The visit provided the delegation with a clearer understanding of VKU’s dynamic and modern learning environment, while further strengthening mutual confidence and expectations for extensive and effective collaboration in the future. The meeting concluded in a spirit of friendship, cooperation, and long-term commitment.
