Workshop on Enhancing Research Writing and Publication Skills: A Strategic Step for VKU

On the morning of September 26, 2025, Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Danang, organized the workshop “Enhancing Research Writing and Publication Skills for Scientists and Collaborators” in collaboration with the Vietnam Journal of Science and Technology. The workshop not only provided a forum for lecturers, scientists, researchers, graduate students, and undergraduates to share practical experiences in research and publication, but also created opportunities to approach international academic standards, improve the quality of research, and strengthen cooperation and connections within the national and international scientific community.

Overview of the workshop

The workshop was honored to welcome distinguished guest speakers: Prof. Dr. Tran Xuan Tu – Director, Institute of Information Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Dr. Nguyen Thi Huong Giang – Editor-in-Chief, Vietnam Journal of Science and Technology; Dr. Bui Quoc Viet – Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, the University of Danang. From VKU, participants included Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh – Chairman of the University Council, Dr. Tran The Son – Vice Rector, along with leaders of departments, faculties and centers, researchers, lecturers, graduate students, and a large number of VKU students.

Opening the workshop, Dr. Tran The Son – Vice Rector of VKU – expressed his sincere appreciation to the Vietnam Journal of Science and Technology for their coordination and the distinguished scientists who accepted the invitation to share their expertise. He emphasized the importance of strengthening international publication capacity for VKU researchers and students. He noted that scientific publications not only demonstrate academic competence but also serve as a bridge for VKU to engage more deeply in the global academic community. He expressed his hope that the workshop would create valuable opportunities for VKU’s lecturers, researchers, and students to access and learn from the practical experiences of leading experts.

Representing the Vietnam Journal of Science and Technology, Dr. Nguyen Thi Huong Giang – Editor-in-Chief – expressed her appreciation for the close cooperation between the Journal and VKU in organizing the workshop. She affirmed the Journal’s commitment to accompanying and supporting young scholars and VKU’s collaborators in their journey toward international standards. This support will help improve the quality of publications and enhance the presence and reputation of Vietnamese research in general, and of VKU in particular, on the international stage.

Distinguished experts and scholars present their reports

The workshop featured presentations from respected experts and scholars, including Prof. Dr. Tran Xuan Tu (VNU-ITI), Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh (VKU), Dr. Bui Quoc Viet (UDN), Dr. Nguyen Huu Nhat Minh (VKU), and Dr. Tran Thien Vu (VKU). The reports focused on various practical aspects of research and scientific publication: implementation experiences in the semiconductor field, guidelines for selecting research topics and publishing in information technology, and collaborative approaches to producing high-quality publications in advanced materials. In addition, the speakers shared strategies for improving research quality and increasing citations, while also introducing the use of artificial intelligence in literature reviews within the social sciences. These insights not only provided participants with in-depth knowledge and updates on new academic trends but also offered practical experience to enhance the effectiveness of research publication. For VKU’s lecturers, researchers, and students, the presentations delivered clear directions, opportunities for broader academic collaboration, and the confidence to gradually assert their research capacity in the international academic environment.

The workshop concluded in an enthusiastic atmosphere, while at the same time opening new opportunities for research and scientific publication. It created strong motivation for lecturers, scholars, graduate students, and undergraduates to further develop their academic potential. This event also marked an important step in VKU’s strategy to strengthen connections, promote cooperation, and spread scientific and technological knowledge – thereby building a solid foundation to affirm the university’s position in both the national and international research community.
