VKU Students: A Vanguard Force in Digital Transformation, Standing Side by Side with Da Nang Local Authorities
To meet the urgent need for qualified and responsible IT human resources to support digital transformation at the grassroots level, Da Nang City has mobilized students from technology universities, including those from Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Da Nang. These young students, full of potential, knowledge, and enthusiasm, are ready to stand alongside local authorities during this important transition.
Training Conference Overview
In response to Official Dispatch No. 326/UBND-SNV dated July 17, 2025, issued by the People’s Committee of Da Nang City, VKU promptly coordinated with the Department of Science and Technology to carry out a plan to assign students to support local wards and communes in the early phase of operating the new two-level local government model. This mission not only carries professional value but also reflects the spirit of dedication and contribution of VKU youth to the city’s development. With a strong sense of responsibility and thorough preparation, on the morning of July 30, 2025, 57 VKU students officially took part in a professional training conference organized by the Department of Science and Technology in collaboration with the Office of the People’s Committee and other specialized agencies.
After completing the training program, VKU students will be directly involved in supporting 29 wards and communes across Da Nang City from August 4 to August 15, 2025. At these localities, the students will not only serve as technology assistants but also act as a bridge, helping bring digital knowledge closer to local residents and grassroots-level officials. From helping citizens and staff access and operate public administration software and online public services, to guiding them in using electronic document management systems and digital signatures, VKU students will take on key responsibilities in advancing the digital transformation of local government operations.
Representatives from relevant departments conducted the training sessions
The training program equipped students with practical knowledge and skills tailored to the real needs of local communities. In addition to practicing how to use software for handling administrative procedures and solving common technical issues, students also received guidance on implementing document management systems, using digital signatures, and applying digital platforms to administrative tasks such as Da Nang Smart City and VneID. Moreover, they were introduced to modern AI tools designed to support administrative and office work, thereby enhancing productivity and improving the quality of public service delivery.
More than just an academic program, this is also a valuable real-world experience that helps students grow and mature in a practical administrative environment. By working directly with local officials and assisting residents, students have the opportunity to develop soft skills, build a professional attitude, and strengthen their ability to respond to and manage real-world situations – essential qualities for entering the future job market. Above all, the program inspires a strong sense of digital citizenship among students – a young generation not only technically skilled but also socially responsible, ready to serve with both knowledge and heart.
Student volunteers discussed and exchanged ideas during the training sessions
Local authorities will work closely with VKU to provide the best possible support for students during their assignments, from arranging accommodation and transportation to ensuring a safe, friendly, and effective working environment. These practical forms of support not only serve as a source of motivation but also reflect the local government’s appreciation for student volunteers – young individuals entrusted with the mission of connecting technology with everyday life.
With a solid foundation in modern, practice-oriented education aligned with current trends, VKU takes pride in being a pioneering public university in training high-quality human resources for digital technology and digital economy, serving the national digital transformation process. Beyond its strong collaboration with businesses, VKU actively collaborates with local authorities on strategic missions, making meaningful contributions to the development of digital government and digital society. The presence and contributions of VKU students across wards and communes throughout Da Nang in the coming days will serve as clear evidence of the university’s practice-based training capacity. At the same time, it is also a strong affirmation of VKU’s role, position, and social responsibility in accompanying Da Nang City on its journey toward sustainable development and the comprehensive modernization of public administration from the grassroots level.
