VKU Welcomes Delegation from King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), Thailand

On the morning of July 18, 2025, Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Danang, warmly welcomed and held a working session with representatives from King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), Thailand – one of the leading technological universities in Southeast Asia. The meeting took place in an open and collaborative atmosphere, aiming to build a solid foundation for long-term cooperation between the two institutions in the areas of training, scientific research, academic exchange, and student mobility.

Overview of the meeting

In attendance from KMUTT were Dr. Sansiri Tarnpradab, Lecturer and International Coordinator, School of Computer Engineering, and Ms. Nongyao Jampahom, staff of the School of Computer Engineering. On the VKU side, the meeting was attended by Dr. Tran The Son – Vice Rector of the University, along with representatives from various departments, faculties, and centers of VKU.

Dr. Tran The Son – Vice Rector of VKU shared his remarks

In his welcome remarks, Dr. Tran The Son provided an overview of VKU – a public, application-oriented university that pioneers education in digital technology and digital economy. VKU currently has nearly 7,000 students and around 300 staff and lecturers, including 70 associate professors and PhDs. All lecturers hold at least a Master’s degree, with many having received formal training from developed countries such as South Korea, Japan, the United States, France, Poland, and Australia. VKU offers 19 modern academic majors and minors, including Artificial Intelligence, Information Security, Data Analytics, Fintech, IoT, and Semiconductor Design. The university pursues a bilingual training approach and promotes international integration, with 100% of students required to write and defend their graduation thesis in English.

At the meeting, Dr. Tran The Son also shared the practical results of collaboration between VKU and King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB), such as student internship exchange programs in Thailand, the organization of the VKU–ISEP international academic exchange program, as well as cultural and academic exchanges and faculty mobility. These have been effective activities that VKU wishes to further expand with KMUTT – a university with many similar strengths and high reputation in the region. Regarding scientific research, VKU is the host and organizer of the CITA international scientific conference series (now in its 14th edition), with the most recent event held in Cambodia (CITA 2025), and plans for CITA 2027 to be held in Thailand. VKU is also the initiator and coordinator of the ACIR academic network – a regional academic community comprising universities from Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, and others – with a mission to promote research, innovation, and academic collaboration across the region.

Dr. Sansiri Tarnpradab made a brief statement on behalf of KMUTT
