VKU Steadily Advancing Forward: Spreading the Core Values of Humanity – Dedication – Liberation, Determined to Lead National Digital Transformation in a New Journey

On the afternoon of May 23, 2025, Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Danang (UD), solemnly held the Conference Honoring Outstanding Individuals and Collectives for the 2020–2025 Period and launched the Emulation Movement for the 2025–2030 Period. This event is one of the university’s most important political and professional milestones of 2025. It serves as a meaningful occasion to review and evaluate patriotic emulation movements, as well as to honor exemplary individuals and groups who have made significant contributions to VKU’s overall development over the past five years.

Overview of the conference

The conference was honored by the presence of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector of VKU; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh – Chairman of the University Council; Vice Rectors Dr. Tran The Son and Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho; Mr. Tran Dinh Son, M.A. – Chairman of the University Trade Union; leaders of affiliated units; along with the entire faculty and staff of the university. The atmosphere of the conference was solemn yet warm and vibrant, reflecting the unity, determination, and sense of responsibility of VKU’s faculty and staff as they embrace the tasks of a new development phase.

At the opening of the Conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap, Rector of VKU, expressed his sincere gratitude to all staff members and employees for their continuous dedication and support over the past five years. The Rector emphasized: “Over the past five years, the patriotic emulation movement at VKU has grown strongly and spread widely, inspiring a spirit of innovation, creativity, and dedicate in all areas – from teaching, learning, and research to community engagement. The achievements that VKU has gained are the result of unity, commitment, and the relentless aspiration to rise from every member of the VKU family.”

Although officially established in 2020, Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU) has quickly affirmed its position as one of the leading public universities in the Central and Central Highlands regions. The university specializes in education and research in information technology, communications, and the digital economy. Over the past five years, VKU has enrolled and trained nearly 7,000 students, with a continuously expanding scale. Its academic programs are regularly updated to align with modern trends and the global digital transformation. In scientific research, both faculty members and students have achieved outstanding results, with hundreds of research projects published in prestigious domestic and international journals. VKU has also pioneered the organization of major academic conferences, most notably the International Conference on Information Technology and its Applications (CITA), which attracts hundreds of leading scientists and experts from around the world. This highlights the university’s growing academic reputation and global integration. International cooperation has expanded significantly, marked by a $7.7 million ODA project funded by the Korean Government, contributing to the development of modern facilities and enhancing training quality to international standards. Strategic training hubs such as the Semiconductor and Smart Technology Hub (VKU-SSTH), VKU Fintech Hub, and high-tech laboratories have been established, paving the way for innovative approaches in high-tech workforce training. VKU students have also achieved remarkable success in academic competitions, innovation challenges, and tech start-up contests, demonstrating strong expertise and outstanding creativity. The university actively promotes bilingual programs in English–Vietnamese, Japanese–Vietnamese, and Korean–Vietnamese, while expanding international student exchange programs. All students are required to complete their graduation thesis in English, affirming VKU’s strategic vision of training global citizens. From 2024, VKU officially launched a Master’s program in Information Technology, contributing to the development of high-quality human resources for the national digital transformation. Notably, VKU has successfully completed quality accreditation for three academic programs, underscoring its strong commitment to standardizing and enhancing the quality of higher education. The university also prioritizes staff welfare, with the average income of staff increasing 2.5 times compared to 2020, evidence of effective leadership and stable growth. Biannual team-building activities are organized to strengthen cohesion and promote VKU’s core culture of solidarity, sharing, and dedication. These achievements are the result of a spirit of innovation, dedication, and a strong aspiration to grow. They vividly reflect VKU’s educational philosophy: “Humanity – Dedication – Liberation”, which emphasizes putting people at the center, serving society as a mission, and unlocking individual potential through free and creative thinking.

One of the highlights of the Conference was a series of inspiring and insightful presentations, which embodied VKU’s unwavering commitment to innovation, global integration, and service. A standout presentation titled “Breakthroughs in Science, Technology, Innovation, and Digital Transformation in Implementing Resolution 57-NQ/TW” was delivered by Dr. Le Ha Nhu Thao – Head of the Department of Science, Technology, and International Cooperation. Her talk emphasized the strong connection between scientific research and international collaboration. It highlighted VKU’s role in nurturing young research groups, increasing international publications, and expanding global partnerships, particularly through the notable $7.7 million ODA project funded by the Korean Government. This project plays a key role in enhancing research capacity, education quality, and the internationalization of the university. Equally moving was the personal story shared by Dr. Nguyen Quang Vu – Head of the Training Department – in his heartfelt presentation titled “Success Comes from Effort and Kindness.” Speaking from his own journey, Dr. Vu reflected on overcoming challenges through perseverance, passion for education, and a commitment to living with kindness. He emphasized that success does not necessarily come from grand achievements, but from a sincere, dedicated attitude—a solid foundation for lasting growth. Together, these two presentations—one with strategic vision and the other rich in humanistic depth—powerfully conveyed VKU’s core values of “Humanity – Dedication – Liberation.” They served as a source of inspiration for all staff and employees to continue striving and contributing to the university’s next stage of development.

Honoring 03 Outstanding Teams and 23 Exemplary Individuals

At the Conference, exemplary individuals and collectives who made remarkable contributions during the 2020–2025 emulation period were honored with great recognition. Three outstanding teams—the Training Department, the Faculty of Computer Science, and the Center for Learning Resources and Communication—were commended for their exceptional efforts, reflecting a pioneering spirit, innovation, and a strong sense of responsibility in their respective fields. In addition, 23 exemplary individuals were awarded for their dedication and contributions. These honorees include faculty members, staff, and employees who have consistently shown commitment, creativity, and tireless efforts in advancing the university’s mission. This recognition is not only a well-deserved reward for their persistent efforts but also a source of inspiration, spreading the spirit of emulation, dedication, and liberation, core values that define VKU’s distinctive educational philosophy.

In launching the emulation movement for the 2025–2030 period, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector of VKU, affirmed “VKU will continue to uphold and spread the core values of its educational philosophy: Humanity – Service – Liberation. Emulation is not merely a race for achievements, but a continuous journey of self-improvement, innovative thinking, community service, and national development with a spirit of humanity and creativity. Each staff member and employee at VKU should view the growth of our students, our university, and our society as the greatest motivation for dedication. Let us strive for excellence in our profession, and serve with heart, wisdom, and kindness.I call upon all VKU staff and employees to maintain the pioneering spirit, embrace innovation and collaboration, and transform our traditional values into new energy sources that fuel the university’s aspirations to reach new heights. Let us contribute through concrete actions—through projects, research, initiatives, and innovations in education, scientific research, and technology transfer—where every individual effort helps shape the future of VKU and the University of Danang as a whole.”

The conference ended in a warm and inspiring atmosphere. The spirit of emulation was strongly awakened and spread through the smiles, the eyes, and the promises of every member of the VKU family. The achievements we celebrate today are not the final destination, but a strong starting point for a new journey — a journey of kindness in dedication, open thinking, and humanity in every action.

The road ahead may bring many challenges, but it is also full of promise and opportunity. With renewed determination, fresh momentum, and the unity under the VKU roof—where talented, dedicated, and service-minded people come together—the patriotic emulation movement for the 2025–2030 period is expected to become a strong driving force.
