Workshop “AI Applications in Blended Learning for UK – TNE Training Programs”
In order to raise awareness and promote the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in blended teaching and learning in Vietnam, on the afternoon of February 28, 2025, Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Danang chaired and organized a workshop on ” AI Applications in Blended Learning for UK – TNE Training Programs ” in coordination with University of Economics and Finance, Ho Chi Minh City (UEF), Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH), Phenikaa University (PKU) within the framework of the “UK TNE Development” project sponsored by the British Council.
Overview of the workshop
Attending the workshop, on behalf of the British Council and universities, there were Ms. Hoang Van Anh – Head of Education Department (attending online); Dr. Mehmet Aydin – University of West England, Bristol, UK; Dr. Pham Van Tuan – Director of LYDINC Institute of Education and Technology; Dr. Nguyen Thi Anh Thu – Vice Director of DNIIT, UD; on behalf of VKU, there were Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho – Vice Rector, along with leaders of VKU’s units and more than 300 educational managers, lecturers nationwide and VKU students attending in person and online.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho – Vice Rector of the University expressed his delight at the presence of experts, educational managers, lecturers and students interested in the topic of applying artificial intelligence (AI) in blended learning. Thereby, VKU, as one of the pioneers in digital transformation and applying AI in education and research activities, is constantly innovating teaching methods to meet global educational trends. The application of AI not only helps personalize learning and improve teaching efficiency, but also opens up opportunities for students to access advanced technologies, better preparing for careers in the digital age.
Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho affirmed that VKU has been actively implementing technology-integrated training programs, especially programs taught in English, to help students improve their international integration capacity. One of the clear evidences is that 100% of VKU students do their thesis and graduation defense entirely in English. This is not only a commitment to training quality but also a motivation for students to develop a global mindset, ready to participate in the international labor market. With close cooperation with prestigious universities and educational institutions at home and abroad, VKU hopes that this conference will create in-depth discussions, contributing to finding effective solutions to integrate AI into blended learning learning, while opening up new directions in higher education in Vietnam.
The workshop on AI application in blended learning for UK-TNE training programs aims to contribute to raising awareness of the role and potential of AI in blended learning in Vietnam, especially in UK-TNE training programs, thereby providing knowledge and practical skills for lecturers in designing AI-integrated lectures, effectively supporting the teaching and assessment process for students. At the same time, it creates opportunities for connection and experience exchange between lecturers from domestic and international universities, promoting cooperation and application of technology in higher education.
Speakers shared a lot of knowledge about AI for students and lecturers to participate.
The workshop listened to the sharing and experience of applying AI in blended learning in Vietnam and UK universities from leading experts from universities in the UK and the University of Danang. Along with the discussion and practice of designing lectures with AI applications, helping lecturers directly access AI tools, build teaching plans suitable for the blended learning model.
The application of AI in blended learning is an inevitable trend of higher education in the digital age, so the workshop not only brings in-depth knowledge and practical experience from domestic and foreign experts but also opens up opportunities for cooperation and exchange between universities to promote innovation in teaching methods. As a pioneer in digital transformation, VKU and its partner universities are committed to continuing to research, develop and apply AI in learning, helping students access advanced technology, improve training quality and international integration. This conference is an important step, contributing to shaping the future of higher education in Vietnam, towards a modern, creative and sustainable education.
