On the afternoon of December 15, 2024, Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Danang, held the Closing Ceremony of the Sports Festival “VKU: Pride and Ambition to Soar Higher.” This event was part of a series of activities commemorating the 30th establishment anniversary of the University of Danang and marking the 5th establishment anniversary of VKU (January 3, 2020 – January 3, 2025): a journey of 22 – year history and development.

Closing Ceremony and Recognition of Overall Team Achievements

The closing ceremony was honored by the presence of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Party Committee Secretary, Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh – Deputy Party Committee Secretary, Chair of the University Council; Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho – Vice Rector; MSc. Tran Dinh Son – Chairman of the University Labour Union; along with members of the University Union Executive Committee, representatives of unit leaders within the university, leaders of member units of Danang University, and seven delegations comprising nearly 400 athletes.

In his closing remarks, MSc. Tran Dinh Son admired the athletes’ enthusiasm, solidarity, and determination. He emphasized that the Sports Festival was a platform for vibrant and intense competition and a bridge to foster solidarity, exchange, and learning among units, further promoting the sports movement throughout the University of Danang.

The sports festival took place over 2 days (December 14-15, 2024) and competed in 3 sports and 8 events including Volleyball (men’s, women’s), Table tennis (men’s doubles, women’s doubles, mixed doubles), Badminton (men’s doubles, women’s doubles, mixed doubles). In the final results, the Organizing Committee awarded the First Prize to the overall team of the University of Science and Technology, the Second Prize to the overall team of Da Nang University’s headquarters, the Third Prize to the overall team of Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology. In addition, Flags and medals in each competition category were also awarded to outstanding teams and individuals.

The “VKU: Pride and Ambition to Soar Higher” sports festival was not just a vibrant sporting event but also an occasion for VKU to assert its position within the broader Danang University community. With a spirit of solidarity, effort, and determination, the event symbolized unity and collaboration among member universities.

As part of the celebrations for the 30th anniversary of Danang University and the 5th establishment anniversary of VKU, the sports festival honored the institution’s journey of growth and development. It also sparked aspirations to strive further, reaffirming VKU’s commitment to contributing actively to the advancement of Danang University and Vietnamese higher education. This event serves as a stepping stone for VKU to solidify its pioneering role in training, research, and community engagement, consistently reaching new heights.
